The definitive (as defined by me) list of pram-approved walks to wheely help you get your steps up with bub in tow.

1. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne

  • Location: Birdswood avenue, Melbourne
  • Distance: 3.8km
  • Rating: Moderate (hold on to your hats as you head up heartbreak hill)
  • Best bit: exploring the childrens' garden afterwards, and getting a little wet! (See pic: Oh dear, Archer!)

2. Albert Park Lake

  • Location: Aughtie Drive, Albert Park
  • Distance: 4.7km
  • Rating: Easy
  • Best bit: Settling in for brunch at Greenfields afterwards and admiring the (gigantic) swans

3. Moysley Walk, Beaumaris

  • Location: Beach Road, Beaumaris 
  • Distance: 3.9km
  • Rating: Moderate
  • Best bit: Views for days. Every angle was made for the gram. Snap a selfie in your glomamaco crop, and don't forget to hashtag #glomamaco for a feature

4. Conservation Trail, Jells Park, Wheelers Hill

  • Location: Waverley Road, Wheelers Hill
  • Distance: 4km
  • Rating: Moderate
  • Best bit: Feeling like you're in the bush, without having to travel too far.

5. Karkarook Park, Moorabbin

  • Location: Warrigal Road, Moorabbin
  • Distance: 1.8km
  • Rating: Super Easy (even toddlers can walk, scoot or ride it)
  • Best bit: It's a bird sanctuary - if you're game (get it?), you can enter the bird hide and watch all the little birdies in their natural habitat.

6. Bushland Circuit Trail, Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield

  • Location: Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield
  • Distance: 4.5km
  • Rating: Challenging
  • Best bit: Pack a picnic, and perch on the banks of the river after

7. Foreshore Trail, Williamstown to Altona 

  • Location: Start at Gloucester Reserve, Williamstown Beach
  • Distance: 8km
  • Rating: Moderate
  • Best bit: All the child friendly cafe's in Williamstown. Check out Porters on Nelson Place. or Between Two Buns (there's one in both Altona and Williamstown).

8. Banksia Park, Bulleen

  • Location: Templestowe Road, Bulleen
  • Distance: 3km
  • Rating: Easy
  • Best bit: Cherry Blossom loop walk passes beneath a stunning Japanes Cherry grove.  Best time to go is Springtime.  Plus, the Heide Museum of Modern Art is just next door.

9. Mount Martha Boardwalk, Mount Martha

  • Location: Mirang Avenue, Mount Martha
  • Distance: 7km
  • Rating: Easy
  • Best bit: Mount Martha Bakery! And after your 7km you'll have earnt it.

10. Messmate Track, Cardinia Reservoir

  • Location: Access via Wellington Road, Cardinia
  • Distance: 3km
  • Rating: Moderate
  • Best bit: it's a little bit different, and if you're there at dusk (walking through the witching hour) you can spot Kangaroos!
